Written for the athlete, not the fan: when coaches may contact you, the roster caps, your real odds, the NCAA eligibility checklist and what a first email should carry — one page per sport, built from the same data as the program pages.
What every guide covers
When coaches may contact you
For most sports a Division I or II coach may first email or call a recruit on June 15 after sophomore year; a few sports have their own dates, and Division III coaches may write at any time. You may write to any coach whenever you like — the rule limits what comes back.
Each guide has the date for every graduation year, 2027 through 2030.
The roster caps
From 2025-26, Division I programs at schools in the House settlement have a roster limit per sport instead of a scholarship limit. Last season's rosters mostly exceed the caps, so the squeeze lands on the next recruiting classes — the guides show how many programs in your sport are over.
Your odds, honestly
High-school participation against NCAA roster spots, by division — the same method the NCAA uses for its own estimates. Some sports are 1 in 3; some 1 in 50. The guides show the cap-adjusted Division I figure too.
Eligibility and the first email
The NCAA Eligibility Center checklist (12 steps: registering, the 2.3 core GPA, core courses, amateurism) and what a coach actually wants in a first email — the facts, film, transcript, schedule, and nothing generic.
